Google has announced the schedule for its awaited I/O conference that is to take place in June this year. The conference will be held in San Francisco and will bring the best of what Google is doing to the world. Here are the things that can be expected from the Google I/O conference starting next month: Android It’s been a long time since the KitKat update was announced and it seems like the time has come for Google to launch the Android 4.5 or 5.0 update. The KitKat update brought changes to the operating system that were mostly iterative. ART Runtime has a full session which could mean that Google is getting ready to move it from the experimental stage to replacing the Dalvik runtime. Google has also scheduled sessions around the various aspects of Android apps including UI and UX design, app monetisation and others. Wearables It is expected that the centrestage of the conference will be wearables. We would be hearing a lot about Google Glass and Android Wear. An official Google watch doesn’t look like to be on the cards. The LG G Watch and the Moto 360 could be making an on stage appearance, considering their Summer 2014 launch timeline. Google has planned a few sessions dedicated to Google Glass. Developers are expected to be shown the basics of app development and making the Glass more productive for the masses. Nexus Rumours have indicated that Google has canned the Nexus program in favour of a premium Android Silver range of smartphones. The Silver project might be announced at the keynote with the first phone expected to be in partnership with LG. The tablet lineup may receive a refresh. A 2014 variant of the Nexus 10 might be on the cards to compete with the iPad Air. The oft spotted Nexus 8 might also make an appearance.
